Description

Participants will learn skills related to working with individuals and couples related to the physical aspect of sexual concerns. This includes psychoeducation, communication techniques, and education related to different types of sex.

Objectives
  1. Understand DSM-5 diagnoses and how they impact sexual relationships
  2. Understand how medical and mental health impact sexual health
  3. Overview of different medical and therapeutic treatments and approaches
  4. Understand the differences between sex and intimacy
  5. Learn how to utilize sex related psychoeducation in therapy
Instructor Bios

Heather Reidinger, MA, LMFT

Heather Reidinger is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, with 18 years of experience in the mental health field. In that time, she has worked with individuals, couples, groups and families to help build better communication, explore more opportunities for personal growth and purposeful solutions to a client’s everyday needs. Heather appreciates learning and specializing in human sexuality, sex education, and intimacy. Her diverse work experience in clinical, hospital/crisis-based mental health and teaching, has shaped her appreciation and compassion for her clients, in having the courage to seek support.

Austin Jacobsen, MA

Austin Jacobsen graduated from Adler Graduate school and is pursuing his LPCC licensure. He has over 10 years of experience in providing mental health services including dual inpatient/outpatient CD treatment, community-based services, and program development and management. Austin believes that we are all searching for our own meaning in life, and that we make our own meaning. Stemming from a person-centered standpoint, Austin believes in meeting people where they are, holding space and walking with clients down their own paths as a guest in their personal journey, including exploring sex and sexuality, and how sex impacts and is impacted by various facets of our lives. Austin uses Adlerian, existential, and EMDR techniques to assist clients in discovering and exploring themselves.
